Skilpadshek (Afrikaans for tortoise gate) – is a border checkpoint on the South African border with Botswana, located 52 kilometres north-west of Zeerust in North West province. The corresponding checkpoint on the Botswana side of the border is called Pioneer Gate. The Trans-Kalahari Corridor passes through Skilpadshek, and it is the western end of the N4 road, which continues in Botswana as the A2.
Kopfontein Gate – [Tlokweng] The Kopfontein Gate Border Post between South Africa and Botswana is very popular as it provides a short and direct route from the border to the capital city of Gaborone. The road to the border turns from the N4 National toll route [Bakwena Platinum Highway] at Zeerust and passes the Madikwe Game Reserve. The gate is about 90 kms from Zeerust and from the border to Gaborone is a further 34 kms.
Ramatlabama Border – In South Africa’s North West province, Ramatlabama is a village and railway station 25 kilometres north of Mafikeng. Ramatlabama has a border post that serves as the crossing point for road and rail traffic.
